Construction box finished

Since all the designs were checked and approved, the construction of the box and clamps could be started. The clamps needed to be made adapted to our purpose. It will avoid that our box becomes loosely attached to the gondola by vibrations, shocks and material shrinking at low temperatures.

The polycarbonate box is made from scratch in the technical workplace of the University of Antwerp. It includes the two holders for the Geiger-Müller tubes. Each holder consists of four holes drilled out in such a configuration that will become important to achieve our scientific requirements. The connectors for the power supply and ELink connection are already attached to the box. The next step will be the integration of all the electronics in the box.
